Characteristics of 3003

3003  is intended for use in interiors as a backfilling thermo active material, which considerably influences thermal comfort inside the room as well as space heating costs thanks to its unique characteristics. In rooms with walls (or internal partition walls) finished with 3003 , the temperature of the walls is significantly higher at first touch.

3003 can be re painted by dispersed paints

This means that its colour tone can be adjusted during time as needed. Any layer of material applied over 3003's surface increases its thermal absorptivity; as a result, you need a few more seconds to achieve a warm surface. For renovation and maintenance of 3003 finished walls, a paint based on the same principle as 3003 is being developed to ensure the maximum efficiency and lifetime of 3003.

3003 eliminates causes of condensation

Practical experience shows that 3003 eliminates (to certain extent) the problem of condensation at risk spots within the construction, i. e. heat bridges such as lintels, anchoring of beams and metal elements incorporated in constructions, window flanning etc.

3003 offers wide range of applications

It can be applied on any internal surfaces as well as on piping of heating or cooling equipment etc. as it can withstand temperatures up to 190°C. When applied to structures with high thermal conductivity such as sheet metal structures, the effect is considerably increased.

3003 is not harmful to health

The backfilling surface can be smoothed down and painted after it has hardened. It does not smell, it is not harmful to health and it does not emit any chemicals when drying. It does not require using any special protective equipment during preparation and application.

3003, in contrast to other systems for thermal insulation of buildings, only requires minimum technical equipment. It reduces interventions to the construction to the lowest necessary level such as renovations or repairs of damaged spots.

3003 is intended as surface treatment for interior walls of buildings. This is a method for improving thermal insulation properties. Blanket application of 3003 enables reduction of heating costs.

3003 can be applied in a whole range of buildings and objects, and is also used in industrial objects as an alternative to thermal insulation properties, where insulation is not possible by other methods. It is also used to protect buildings against the sun.

Technical data:

Gloss level: matt
Equivalent diffusion resistance: sd = 0.16 m (layer 1mm)
Adhesion to base layer: min. 1.2 MPa
Min. applicable thickness: 1 mm
Thermal resistance after curing: -20 °C to +80 °C without loss of declared properties
Service life after curing:  min. 10 years under normal conditions

3003 is an aqueous dispersion compound of glass balls and other components. 3003 is supplied as a paste suitable for application as a render. 3003 can be diluted with water for application by spraying. 3003 can be applied to most materials, the surface of which is sufficiently cohesive, cured, dry and clean.

3003 utilises universal electromagnetic radiation (light, heat, direct and scattered sunlight) to increase its temperature, it is a so-called thermo-active substance. This results in a higher surface temperature.

3003 is supplied in non-refundable plastic packaging of net volumes of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 litres.

Each package bears the following information.

  • Manufacturer’s name
  • Product name
  • Instructions for use
  • Date of manufacture
  • Package volume

Storage and shelf-life:

3003 must be stored and transported at temperatures between +5 °C and +45 °C, must not freeze. The shelf-life of 3003 is two years in its original, unopened packaging, from the date of manufacture. Use as soon as possible after opening, or cover the surface with plastic.

Base materials: all types of porous materials, wood and its secondary products, metal surfaces.
Surface condition: clean, dry, without grease and dust

Preparation of base materials:

Before applying 3003 all eroded and otherwise loose areas must be removed, fungus, lime and clay layers must be removed, any unevenness repaired and smoothed. A primer is suitable, or varicoloured surfaces can be painted white with dispersion paint.

WARNING, the 3003 layermust be at least 1 mm thick – if the surface is not absolutely level it must be levelled. Freshly cured plasters – must always have primer applied. Old plasters – cohesive and level surfaces can be brushed off (degreased) and primer applied. 3003 can be applied to metal surfaces only to a primer coat.

A primer must be applied to metal surfaces before 3003 is applied.

Work procedure:

Working temperature: +5 °C to +50 °C

Preparation of the material: Before using, always mix the 3003, if possible using a slow-speed mixer or drill. WARNING, the filler may be damaged at high speeds, thereby reducing the overall effect of the 3003 product. If necessary the product can be diluted by gradually adding clean water. Diluted 3003 should be used as soon as possible, to avoid devaluing the product as result of the added water.

Application: by rendering or spraying. WARNING!!! Set the spray gun to a max. 6

atm. The used filler may be damaged at higher pressures and the declared properties may not be achieved.

Preparation of the product: ALWAYS mix properly before using.

Dilution: Diluted with water to the required consistency depending on the method of application.

WARNING!!! Mix at low-speed to prevent damaging the filler.

Consumption: Depends on preparation of the base material (how level it is) and the method of application, under normal conditions consumption is 1 litre/m2.

Curing period: A 1 mm thick layer is normally cured within max. 24 hours, depending on the temperature and the absorbency of the base material, air temperature and humidity and on the air flow.

Tools: Floats or spraying equipment should be cleaned with water after use.

3003 can be painted over during its service life, if possible using dispersion paints. Dirty areas can be carefully washed using a damp sponge.

Work safety and hygiene:

  • The product is safe and not a health risk during handling and application.
  • Prevent contact with the eyes, if the product comes into contact with your eyes, wash out with water and seek medical treatment. Use protective equipment, and a mask to protect airways and eyes must be used when applying the product with a spray gun.
  • If ingested, rinse your mouth and immediately drink several glass of water. Do not induce vomiting, immediately seek medical treatment.
  • Use suitable protective clothing, wash the product off skin using water and soap.
  • This product is not classified as environmentally harmfully, it is ecologically safe.

Safety warnings:

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not pour into the sewerage.
  • In the event of a fire, use water, foam or powder extinguishers.

Disposal of packaging:

  • 3003 is not supplied in reusable packaging. Packaging can be used or recycled after washing.
  • Dispose of unused material or packaging in compliance with the Packaging Act No. 185/2001 Coll.
  • The EKOKOM Company No. EK-F00080112 assures disposal (only for the Czech Republic)
